高考英語詞匯辨析：all與whole的區(qū)別

　　1. 有時(shí)這兩個(gè)詞大致同義，只是位置不同：all 要放在冠詞、指示代詞、物主代詞等之前，而 whole 應(yīng)放在這些詞之后。如：

　　all the family / the whole family 全家

　　2. 在復(fù)數(shù)名詞前一般用 all，在單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞前一般用 whole。如：

　　All my friends are poor. 我所有的朋友都很窮。

　　The whole building was burning. 整座樓都在燃燒。

　　注意它們?cè)谝饬x上有差別：all 指一個(gè)不剩，即“全部”;whole 指一點(diǎn)不缺，即“整個(gè)”。

　　3. 在不可數(shù)名詞之前一般用 all，而不用 whole (偶爾有例外：the whole time / all the time; his whole energy / all hisenergy 等)，但在物質(zhì)名詞前則絕對(duì)不用 whole。如：

　　誤：the whole money 正：all the money 所有的錢

　　誤：the whole food 正：all the food 所有的食物

　　誤：the whole wine 正：all the wine 所有的酒

　　4. 在表地點(diǎn)的專有名詞之前，一般用 all 而不用 whole，但可用the whole of。如：

　　all China / the whole of China 全中國

　　5. 在時(shí)間名詞(如day, week, month, year 等)以及季節(jié)名詞(spring，summer, autumn, winter) 之前，兩者都可用(注意冠詞的位置)。如：

　　all (the) day /the whole day 整天

　　all (the) spring /the whole spring 整個(gè)春天

　　但在表示時(shí)間的 hour 和 century 之前，一般用 whole ，不用 all。如：

　　I waited for her a [the] whole hour. 我等了她整整 1 小時(shí)。
